ANARCHIST ALBUM NEEDS SPONSORS:

Now Joey and his band are bringing out a new album, 'Fire on Anarchist Mountain' (yes, there is such a place in BC, and Molly has blogged on it before- see our archives), and they need help to bring the project to birth. Here's the appeal. Contribute if you can.

JOEY ONLY OUTLAW BAND
FIRE ON ANARCHIST MOUNTAIN
Full length album – 11 songs – July 2008-
FUNDRAISING AND SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL
May 1, 2008
To any and all supporters,
In the past four years I, Joey Only, have been busy playing 300+ shows in 11 provinces & territories. The six-piece band that often accompanies me has been forging a new orchestra sound based in the tradition of folk/roots music. We are a growing band with a good future. Our new album FIRE ON ANARCHIST MOUNTAIN will be released at Vancouver’s ROYAL UNICORN CABARET on July 4th 2008. The ‘Anarchist Mountain Tour’ will see the band playing several months of shows across Canada beginning at the annual Williams Lake Stampede. Our first tour stop is the Calgary Stampede.
The 11 tracks on this new album tell the story of our adventures through Canada; it takes aim directly at our dissatisfaction with modernity and urbanity with as much humor as possible. The waltz ‘North of Number 7’ laments how ‘everything has changed north of town’ and summarizes well the mood of the record. The album starts in British Columbia on track 1 and drives east to Newfoundland poking fun at everyone and everything in its path while maintaining a unique criticism of our society's evolution. The album is being co-produced by Barry McKillican and will be released on his label called OUTER RIM RECORDS from Quesnel BC.
We do have the financial means to finish the recording process itself. But to ensure a high sound quality we need more money for the mastering and production. We also hope to raise money to launch our album with a strategic advertising and distribution campaign. That campaign entails advertising our “Anarchist Mountain Tour” in the media of the cities we play, sending promo packages to any radio station and using all means to get larger turnouts to our shows and more album sales. Our goal is to hire a publicist to help us accomplish these tasks. We have spent many years struggling on the fringes of the music establishment with small budgets, no grants, little management help and little publicity. We have had many successes but we have not achieved all that we have set out to do in the past. Now is the best time to change this trend and help us put out this new album. We are looking for sponsorships and donations to go toward our total budget.
Any donation of $25-$100, or more, will make a big difference! Our goal is to raise $5,000, even that would fall short of our overall tour costs. In return for your sponsorships and donations we are dedicating one page in the album sleeve to honour your contributions by name. Any donation over $50 will receive advance copies of the album in late May 2008. Donors giving over $100 will also receive a full Outlaw Band merchandise package and free tickets to a show nearest you.
We are desperate to make this album count. We know that our music is able to carry important stories to the country and beyond. With your financial support, we can send out our message, we believe, even as far as the Juno stage. We are working hard on our music and want to push to the next level. There is no dream too big to believe in. Please contact us with your financial commitment and become a part of this exciting project. Thank you very much for all your support and for taking this rather impersonal form letter seriously
