QUÉBEC:

PUBLIC MEETING-THE PROJECT OF A LIBERTARIAN COMMUNIST SOCIETY/ LE PROJET DE SOCIETE COMMUNISTE LIBERTAIRE:

QUÉBEC MAI 2008:

The following article has been translated from the NEFAC website. The original French follows this English translation. This is a public meeting with speakers/visiters from the French anarchocommunist organization Alternative Libertaire. This is actually merely one of many such meetings that NEFAC-Quebec has held to present the basic ideas of the anarchism to the public. One only wishes that us anglophones could be as active as our Québec comrades are.

A project for a libertarian communist society?

The historic failure of "state socialism" for a time suggested that the capitalism was the unreachable horizon of humanity. On the one hand the USSR was placed in the cupboard of old delusions. On the other hand, social democracy is dead in its pretentions of "Changing life", since the reformist policies of the PS, the Greens and other assimilated parties went bankrupt across Europe, proving unable to constitute an alternative to liberalism [similarily in Quebec with the PQ, by the way!]. We affirm, however, that once rid of these lures, the question of social transformation can again be raised, an alternative based on self-management and ant-authoritarian socialism , can begin to be built now. Civilizations are mortal. Capitalism, too. We are therefore not condemned to remain chained to its dogmas and its dictates. There is a life after neoliberalism, it deserves to be lived.
