The Joys of a Site Monitor:
I have a "site monitor" attached to this blog. It gives me all sorts of interesting information, some of which I have no interest in whatsoever. It's not just for 'total hits' but also allows me to to get statistics as to day, week and month visits, as well as tracking back to the sources, locations, etc. of those who enter this blog. The only unsettling thing is to see US and Canadian GOVERNMENT entries. I can only hope that these are time wasters who spend their "working" day cruising the internet. "Shaded" sources from the USA are also slightly unsettling, though all these matters hardly matter as much as an itch in a place I can't scratch.
My favourite part of this monitor, however, is the 'country stats' part. I admit to a little thrill when somebody visits from Argentina, India, Australia, Malaysia or the Philippines. Eastern Europe is fairly common as I write a lot of posts relevant to that area. The latest is a visit from 'The Islamic Republic of Iran'. The monitor said that the visitor didn't stay long, but I hope that I did my little bit to corrupt a mind in that part of the world.
It's world travel without leaving my home.
