Doors 8:30, screening 9:30

Yes, for one night only Trash Palace and I team up in presenting this super-rare and spectacular 16mm print of "Deadly Eyes" - Robert "Enter the Dragon"Clouse's tax shelter epic of mutant, er, rats running riot through TTC, GrangePark, and Old City Hall of early 80's vintage. Check out these imdb reviews:
"Great entertainment if you're drunk...a total cheesefest!"
"a couple of adorably gross and hectic sequences, for example in a movie theater or in the newly finished subway tunnel."
"Yes, I know they're dogs in rat suits but they look convincing and the scenes of them chasing victims are scary."
"this carries one of the most hilarious scenes in cinematic history - seeing Scatman Crothers' body getting dragged down a set of stairs by mutant rats!"
"amazingly rubbish acting"
"Meant to be watched in total disbelief."
Seriously, I am extremely fond of this movie and am ecstatic to be able to share it with an adoring public. Catch these rats before they scurry back into the hellish darkness...! Popcorn, candy and beverages as usual, plus special treats from Siue's chocolatier apprenticeship! **SEE BELOW FOR MORE EXCITING MOFFAT UPDATES!
Lots more goodies coming up at Trash Palace (including our long-awaited Educational Films marathon on August 1!) - but if you've been putting off that clammy trash handshake, this is surely as good a time as any!

JC ON CINEPHOBIA!
FRIDAY, JUNE 20 - 2 PM
CKLN - 88.1 FM
Yeah, "Deadly Eyes" is just the tip of the iceberg - I have been delving deep of late into the storied but little-seen depths of 'tax shelter' cinema - the speedy and shoddy flood of cash-grab films made between 1974 and 1987. From the enormous pile in the living room, Stuart and I have selected five titles -revenge, juvenile comedy, shot-on-video action, plus of course deadly rats.Tune in to hear our deathless insights on this stuff, plus clips, ticket giveaways, and other stuff I don't even know about.

"LICKIN' THE BEATERS"
SECOND PRINTING NOW AVAILABLE!
After selling out her self-published first run of "Lickin' The Beaters: Low Fat Vegan Desserts", Siue Moffat had her title picked up by PM Press (a brand new imprint under the AK umbrella) - they'll be publishing her brand-new cookbook in the coming months, but for now we can celebrate the arrival of the original Lickin' The Beaters in a handsome second edition - shrunk but unabridged, for all those who missed it the first time or got their old one covered in gunk. For more details visit www.dairyfreedesserts.com or email Siue at beaterlicker@yahoo.com ! THE PARKDALE FILM + VIDEO FESTIVAL
PRESENTS"DEATH MASK"
FRIDAY JUNE 27, 9 PM
REVUE CINEMA
Yeah! Formerly Rehab will be showing my audience-favourite "Death Mask" video (preview it at www.satanmacnuggit.com) alongside countless other film and video treasures at this year's screenings! Check out the whole festival June 27-29.The PR says:
"REHAB is an eclectic showcase of films and videos and media art by artists who live and/or work in the dynamic Parkdale community...A rare dose of defiant and whimsical film and video, the REHAB festival is intended not to purify the neighbourhood, but to jump start a collective kind of visual and cultural infusion...Cross-cultural neighbours, fringy as well as professional image-makers all converging on a hot weekend evening in June - a microcosm of Toronto's unique arts scene."

CUT AND RUN
A Near North Mobile Media Lab project
On the last weekend in July, I will be lending my insights to the editing team on this spectacularly ambitious project from the folks in North Bay:
"Cut and Run will be created over the month of July and August and will involve four weekends of workshops to produce an 80-90 minute broadcast quality feature video. Teams will work on script writing, storey-boarding, shot planning, shooting and editing, in this order. The first team will surrender their weekends work to a new team on the following weekend. Each successive team must work with whatever they are given, hence the project name Cut and Run."
I'll keep you posted on the results!
