APRIL NEWS FROM SATAN MACNUGGIT:

Here, for all you 'videophiles' is the April newslatter from Jonathan Culp's 'Satan Macnuggit' project.

@@@@@@@@@@
NEWS - April 2010 - busy month!!!‏
SATAN MACNUGGIT NEWS
APRIL 2010

1. New film at Images Festival - April 7

2. Tabling at Toronto Anarchist Assembly - April 10-11

3. New video at "In The Soil", St. Catharines - April 17

4. "Jacob Two-Two" at Trash Palace - April 23

5. Tabling at Kazoo Zine Fair, Guelph - April 24

* * * * *

1. "DARWIN"At the Images Festival

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 7, 11 PM

Polish Combatants Hall,

206 Beverly at Cecil

TORONTO

We kick off this insanely productive month with a new movie! "Darwin" was produced for the most excellent Images Festival's "One Take Super 8" event, which means that I haven't even seen it yet - edited in camera, all 25 films get their first-ever run through a projector at this screening. Let's just say that mine involves giant Galapagos tortoises and unnatural sex acts. If that doesn't hook you I don't know what will.

Be there!

More details on this and other screenings available at http://www.imagesfestival.com/ .

2. TORONTO ANARCHIST ASSEMBLY

SATURDAY APRIL 10 - SUNDAY APRIL 11

Steelworkers Hall, 25 Cecil at Beverly

TORONTO

Spending a lot of time at this intersection this month! Here's your first chance to grab that choice Satan Macnuggit merch in 2010. I'll be tabling my highly coveted zines and DVDs, plus all kinds of goodies from the fine folks at Microcosm Publishing, from 10:30-3 on Saturday and from 10:30-5 on Sunday. There will also be a whole bunch of wicked workshops and fun stuff all weekend, including Friday which I'll miss. Everything you need to know is at http://torontoanarchistassembly.blogspot.com/ .

3. "REPRODUCTION PROHIBITED"

At In The Soil

SATURDAY APRIL 17 - 8 PM

On the wall of the former Russell Hotel (corner of St. Paul & James Sts)

ST. CATHARINES

Yet another premiere. "Reproduction Prohibited" is a collaboration between myself and composer Monica Clorey, constructed from hundreds of cut-and-paste manipulated frames from ancient phys ed film strips. Magnified, distorted and animated, these wrestling and swimming scenes morph into a perverse ballet in tandem with Monica's electro-acoustic score. This free outdoor screening is part of In The Soil - Niagara's Homegrown Arts Festival, which highlights a ton of local artists and musicians in events throughout the month. You can see thefull lineup at http://www.inthesoil.on.ca/ !

4, "JACOB TWO-TWO"

FRIDAY APRIL 23 - 9:30 PM

At Trash Palace - secret location!

TORONTO

This week marks the start of a brand new season at Toronto's Classiest Cinema, and my first contribution is yet another Canadian classic - a wondrously cheap, deliriously kinky adaptation of Mordecai Richler's legendary kids book about nice little boys being kidnapped and taken to a fantastic slave camp by a fish guy, a chicken lady, and a wimpy masked wrestler. It's really great. In addition to our ongoing "Captain America" serial (come this week for episode one!) I'll also be throwing in "Ramona's Bad Day", a 16mm print of the 80s TV show starring an impossibly tiny Sarah Polley! And yes, I am still clinging doggedly to the pretense that Trash Palace's address is a secret - tickets are available at Eyesore Cinema, 801 Queen St. West, and the address is printed thereon. The full rundown on our greatest season yet (and I'm serious) is at http://www.trashpalace.ca/ .

* * * * *

5. KAZOO ZINE FAIR

SATURDAY APRIL 24 - 11 AM - 3 PM

Ed Video,

40 Baker Street

GUELPH

Guelph's only zine fair is presented as part of the Kazoo! fest, a five-day orgy of music and art. We are promised "guest speakers, lots of zines, workshops, cupcakes, and hopefully some hula-hooping." Plus of course, Satan Macnuggit and Microcosm Publishing, courtesy of yours truly! The full monty for this wicked event is at http://www.kazookazoo.ca/

ANARCHIST VIDEO
SATAN MACNUGGIT NEWS:
Here's the October news bulletin for Ontario video artist Jonathan Culp and his Satan Macnuggit productions.
VVVVVVVVVVVVVV

[Satanm-announce] October news - Trash Palace x 2!‏:
SATAN MACNUGGIT NEWS
OCTOBER 2009
* * * * *
September was a super-busy month in Satanville. The GSS Video Yearbook DVD debuted to raves, a mere 20 years after its VHS edition shocked the nation. Order your copy now before they're gone!
And the Trash On Wheels Film Party is a wrap! Seven very well-received shows rocked the regions from London to Montreal to Picton, and everyone who showed up had a great time. I never get tired of watching this stuff; let's do it again soon!
Lots in the works - zine fair season kicks into overdrive in November! - but for now, we're settling back into Toronto in style, with two big screenings at Trash Palace!
Friday, October 2 - A STAR IS LOST!
This 1974 film is a mind-boggling attempt by the National Film Board to produce a "Singin' in the Rain" style razzle-dazzle musical. Directed by John Howe (he also wrote the songs), a ton of showbiz glamour and glitter is given an almost cinema-verite treatment; the resulting concoction will make your head spin!
Friday, October 16 - THE LITTLE GIRL WHO LIVES DOWN THE LANE
Another Canadian film, Nicholas Gessner's 1977 opus is a minor classic, and a staple of 80s TV (however tonight's print is UNCUT). Jodie Foster plays a kid who lives alone with a secret in the basement, until the landlord's son - a creepy turn by Martin Sheen - starts making the moves on her. To round off this screening, we're including an incredible rarity, Sheen's extremely early (1961?1962?), Brandoesque turn as a juvenile delinquent in one of the most genuinely well-made educational films I've ever seen - "The Price Of A Life".
As usual these here flicks screen at 9:30 at Trash Palace's SECRET CINEMA - buy advance tickets at Eyesore Cinema, 801 Queen Street West, and the address is on the ticket. More info on our nefarious doings is available at www.trashpalace.ca .
See you there!

* * * * *
1. THE TRASH ON WHEELS FILM PARTY
Sept 10-26 - shows in Hamilton, St. Catharines, Ottawa, Kingston, Montreal and London!! (local info below)
Trash Palace - "Toronto's Classiest Cinema" - is proud to present THE TRASH ON WHEELS FILM PARTY – a back-to-school touring show of classroom films, cartoons and more from the files of Canada's most demented film fanatics!
Hosted by Trash Palace programmer Jonathan Culp, TRASH ON WHEELS brings a full evening of lost, forgotten and undiscovered gems from the celluloid dumpsters of our nation to your town. Armed with their trusty 16mm film projector, a trunkload of film reels from the 60s and 70s, cold drinks, and a fully stocked snack bar (including handmade vegan truffles from Boardwalk Chocolates!) Trash Palace will give you a taste of the madness that we've been dishing out at our home base for over two years.
With a constantly changing lineup of titles - partially selected by the audience via the "Trash Palace Applause-O-Meter" - every screening is a whole new ballgame. Will you see angry puppets smacking around their friends? Evil dancing cigarettes? Washed up pop stars ranting about LSD? Christian college students partying with the Virgin Mary? Animated sex ed lessons? Or masked headmasters wielding lawnmowers?
This is no stinkin' film festival - it's THE TRASH ON WHEELS FILM PARTY!
TRASH PALACE, named "the 11th best place to watch a film in Toronto" by Blog TO, shows shorts and features every Friday at their secret location. The Toronto Star writes, "It lives up to its seamy potential...the fun is pure, untainted by cynicism, high expectations or irony."
And the National Post observes,"Trash Palace's screenings promise the best in films that somebody out there was desperate to get rid of."

2. UNBELIEVABLE ARCHIVAL DVD!
GRIMSBY SECONDARY SCHOOL
1989 VIDEO YEARBOOK
20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION
Just in time for school kiddies - and even though anyone visible in this DVD has long since graduated (I hope!!), we can all recall the dread. And now, you can SEE it as well!
This hour-long video (available for the FIRST TIME on DVD) captures the student life of Grimsby, Ontario at a remote but resonant historical moment - the 1988-89 school year.
It's the first movie I ever made, and it's still watchable, funny, and highly evocative whether you were there or not!
In gritty, unpredictable fashion, this volume delivers the stuff of yearbooks past, present and future - sports, drama, music, familiar faces, telling personal details of every sort. And then it goes further:
YOUR yearbook never had a 'smoking up at the school dance' section. Or a questionable juxtaposition of pacifist Remembrance Day speech with various students beating each other up. Or a 'people saying inexplicable things' montage. There's a surprise around every corner folks.

But where the hell is 'Grimsby', and is it any more obscure than 'Balgonie'. The 'Saskatchewan Perfume' used to be named 'Evening in Balgonie', and you can guess what it smelled like.

Trash Palace presents
THE NEPTUNE FACTOR
(Daniel Petrie, 1973)
Friday, July 31
Doors @ 8:30 - films @ 9:30
$5
Advance tickets at Eyesore Cinema, 801 Queen St. W
Secret location (address on the ticket)
Continuing my semi-regular showcase of all-Canadian fromage, this week we offer a screening in the true spirit of Toronto Summer '09 - a big pile of waterlogged trash! The main event is THE NEPTUNE FACTOR.
Ben Gazzara, Walter Pidgeon, Ernest Borgnine and other thespian luminosities head into the unknown depths off the coast of Halifax, in order to rescue the wayward Oceanlab II from the watery depths. There, the intrepid crew is threatened by...poorly matched closeups of tropical fish!
Seriously!!
Can you spell 'fun'?
Director Petrie is better known for high-minded fare like "A Raisin in the Sun"and "The Bay Boy". So make no mistake, the auteur here is really money man Harold Greenberg, the Kingfish in the puddle of Canadian disaster movies (Cityon Fire, Death Ship) and the mastermind behind the Astral Films colossus. This was Greenberg's first film as producer, and his work lives up to his usual standards! You gotta see it to believe it, people - but to give you a taste, here's a hilarious writeup from our friends at Canuxploitation:
And that's not all! In the spirit of the evening, we're kicking things off with a classic short from underwater cineaste Jacques Cousteau - the memorable "Night of the Squid"! Ride along with Jacques as he frolics with the creatures of the deep. Add 'em up and you got a night at the movies you won't soon forget.
See you there kiddies.
* * * * *
And if that ain't enough, details are firming up on yet ANOTHER screening in the coming days, this one in Niagara...it'll be worth the drive...even if you're in Saskatoon(Hey, if you're in Regina anything is worth the drive-Molly) Stay tuned - we're just getting started!!

FRIDAY JUNE 19 - FIREBIRD 2015 AD
Continuing my series of presentations from Canada's Tax Shelter era, this one is about a time in the not-so-distant future where government tyranny has made it a crime to drive. But deep in the wastes of Drumheller, Kolchak himself, Darren McGavin, is drivin' up a storm, to the dismay of the authorities. canuxploitation.com evokes the film's vision of a future where 'People still drive slick sports cars, and have CB radios in their dune buggys...will have you calling everybody "good buddy" for days.'

imdb users rave:
"This is both a thinking man's piece, and a movie with action. The characters present an upside. One of the best movies of this genre."
''it does sport some fine Alberta Badlands scenery.''
"oh gee, it's The Dukes of Hazzard meets 1984''
"during the ho-hum race scenes, I kept on expecting Batman himself to drive by, flipping everyone the finger.''
"Doug McClure doesn't even bother to phone in his performance--he submits it by Morse code.''
"why are there roads if there are no cars?"

Don't miss a second of the excitement!
Buy your tickets today!
At... EYESORE CINEMA
801 Queen St. W. (above Rotate This)

1. NEW ZINE!
Satan Macnuggit proudly presents "Cinertia #1". Subtitled "My Year in Movies",this zine features JC's withering commentary on whatever cinematic goodies passed his way last year.

Over ninety reviews, with tons of pictures and a special bonus essay at the end!

Plus, for a limited time only, a SECRET BONUS DVD.

You can just picture JC leaning back at his desk and smoking a cigar:

Sweeney Todd - "every time someone utters a note everything freezes dead and it's a cue to get up for popcorn/the crapper."
Murder Party - "the script's stabs at character development need to be improved or abandoned, and rather than surprising us with alternating funny-scary it sometimes sits too long in the middle."
Lola Montes - "the toil of the film-making efforts end up deflecting attention from Lola herself - maybe Martine Carol isn't up for the job like everyone says, but more importantly all that metaphor stuff seems to crowd out time she could use to draw us in."
$6 each.
Check www.satanmacnuggit.com for ordering info, or emailjc@satanmacnuggit.com .

2. Satan Macnuggit at TRASH PALACE;
We got two significant contributions coming up this month:

FRIDAY MARCH 20 - CLASSROOM FILMS

1. "RED SHIFT" at 8 Fest TONIGHT
2. MOUNTIE MOVIES at Trash Palace - Feb 6
3. SATAN MACNUGGIT at Gettazine 2 - Feb 12-13
* * * * *
1. RED SHIFT
AT THE 8 FEST

89B NIAGARA STREET (Just West of Bathurst)
$5
Red Shift (2009, 40 minutes)
Super 8 collage
with live accompaniment by Picastro (Liz Hysen, Nick Storring, Brandon Valdivia)
I am very excited! This Friday, my first long piece in a couple years - and my first film finished on super 8 in a decade - debuts at The 8 Fest with live musical accompaniment by my old pals in Picastro.
You can read my trenchant ponderings about "Red Shift" on the Broken Pencil website:
and find out more about The 8 Fest here:
I will also be bringing a reel along for Saturday night's home move screening -you should too! Mine will feature a late 50's prefab "garage raising" in, I think, Guelph!

2. JONATHAN CULP PRESENTS
MOUNTIE DOUBLE BILL!
AT TRASH PALACE
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6
DOORS 8:30 - FILM 9:30
SECRET LOCATION
$5
For months now I've been regaling Trash Palace with samples of the OTHER Canadian cinema - the cheesy cash grabs (and genuine artistic successes) of our notorious 'tax shelter' era. Well for this special double bill, I am reaching back even farther, to the original 'commercial' Canadian films, which were in fact not really Canadian at all! I refer of course to the 'Mountie movies' of the 30s, which amount to Westerns on a broken compass...replacing noble Northerners for the good guys and unwashed 'half-breeds' for the baddies!
RENFREW OF THE ROYAL MOUNTED (1937) leads the bill, and is a riotous quickie (in every sense - it clocks in at under an hour). This tale of valor on horseback features good ol' Renfrew jumping out of a plane, pitching woo, and eventually busting some no-good pseudo-Metis who are smuggling counterfeit across the border in - what else - blocks of ice! (How Canadian can you get?)
This Martian's-eye view of our home and native land was a favourite whipping boy for front page pothead Pierre Berton, who found fault with everything from the headgear ("Renfrew appears to be wearing a slouch hat") to the mise-en-scene ("The entire troop of them gallops up to the picnic grounds on horseback singing at the top of their voices"). So if you usually come to Trash Palace for history lessons, steer clear! But if you're looking for something to laugh at, you've got your man.
We then jump ahead almost 40 years to a different breed of mountie - George Segal, slouching through a Vancouver that is almost as seedy as Skip Tracer, in RUSSIAN ROULETTE (1975).
This one is actually a real hoot, thanks to director Lou Lombardo who cut his teeth as editor for the great Robert Altman and Sam Peckinpah! You get lots of wicked deadpan humour and layering (and layering) of subplots to go with the geopolitics - Canadians of this era seem to have been even more obsessed with the Soviet Union than the Yanks, no doubt thanks to that commie Trudeau. You may not know what the hell is going on, but you'll sure have fun trying to figure it out!
Imdb sez:
"Stirring and heart-thumping"
"A tour de force of slick editing and exciting music"
"Hilarious...a wealth of talent involved"
"Engaging and quirky"
So - a very special Trash-fest, two great movies for the price of one, plus the usual 'cold drinks,' hot dogs, popped corn, candy, merch, and yummies from our in-house chocolatier!
Advance tix $5 at Eyesore Cinema, 801 Queen St. West (above Rotate This). Secret location, as always - the address is printed on the ticket, along with a handy map on how to get there! (It's a short walk from the ticket location...)

3. SATAN MACNUGGIT AT GETTAZINE 2!
THURS-FRI FEB. 12-13, 12-5 PM
SHERIDAN COLLEGE, 1430 TRAFALGAR ROAD
IN THE ATRIUM OUTSIDE THE CONNEXION
OAKVILLE
FREE!
The second big Sheridan zine fair is expanding to two days, and we're going to be around for both, selling DVDs and zines (including a brand new one, more details soon...) PLUS I believe I will be stepping up to the mic to sing a couple tunes, a rare treat indeed. If you find yourself on campus, drop on by.

2. JONATHAN CULP PRESENTS
LES ROSE'S "GAS" (1981)
AT TRASH PALACE
FRIDAY, JANUARY 9
DOORS 8:30 - FILM 9:30
SECRET LOCATION
$5
We continue our infiltration of the most excellent Trash Palace with a movie that will haunt you long after the lights come up - the Canadian Tax Shelter monstrosity "Gas"!
What do I have to tell you to make you believe that this movie is a masterpiece? That it's the first film ever to feature Howie Mandel, and he's second-billed ? What more do you need ? How about Dan Aykroyd's brother Pete? Or the worst Donald Sutherland role of all time, as a disc jockey named Nick the Noz ? Perhaps you'll take a plot involving a gas shortage brought on by stolen milk ? Can I sell you on an array of gross racial stereotypes with names like GuidoVespucci, Lee Kwan and Fawsi Ibn Fawsi ? Would you believe a HALF HOUR car chase ? With cardboard English street signs taped on to the Montreal originals ??
>From the director of "Hog Wild"?!?!
Aww, some people are never satisfied. Well maybe I can win you over with some glowing reviews from imdb...let's see now... "A movie to forget!" "If you want bad, this is your movie!" "Sloppy, idiotic, severely witless and desperate!" "I still kick myself for the night I visited the multiplex and chose this thing over "Arthur!"" "This incoherent waste of someone's ability to raise funds!" "I found myself actually looking FORWARD to the commercials!" "To be avoided, this movie bites!" "Everyone who appeared in this one is a bad, bad person!" "Worst film of all time, bar none!"
In other words, my friends: this movie was MADE for Trash Palace! Be there.
Advance tix $5 at Tequila Bookworm, 512 Queen West!
The Trash Palace address is printed on the ticket, along with a handy map on how to get here! (It's a short walk from the ticket location...)
'Cold drinks,' hot dogs, popped corn, candy, merch...and Boardwalk Chocolates, Siue Moffat's brand new vegan fair trade organic orgy of yumminess!

RED SHIFT
AT THE 8 FEST
FRIDAY, JANUARY 30, 9 PM
AT TRASH PALACE (see above)
COST TBA
Red Shift (2009, 40 minutes)
Super 8 collage
with live accompaniment by Picastro (Liz Hysen, Nick Storring, Brandon Valdivia)
In this long piece commissioned specially for this year’s 8 Fest, filmmaker Jonathan Culp creates a hypnotic, rhythmic collage of commercially produced Super 8 material. Cutting between faded Eastman color industrial films,classroom-film curios, and Hollywood imagery old and new, the pictures interlock with the haunting semi-acoustic dissonances of local band Picastro, performing live with the film. Red Shift is a slowly disintegrating nightmare of utilitarian media gone wrong.
Presented as part of THE 8 FEST (January 30-February 2) Now in its second year, this is Canada's only film festival dedicated to exhibiting work on small gauge film. It's a lot of fun. Find out more atwww.the8fest.com, or join the soon-to-be-resuscitated Facebook group at:

ANARCHIST FILM:
SKIP TRACER:

Coming up tonight ! 'Skip Tracer' Gulp at the Trash Palace down Toronto way. From the Satan Macnuggit news service.
.............................

SATAN MACNUGGIT NEWS
NOVEMBER 2008
SKIP TRACER AT TRASH PALACE!
Friday, November 14, doors 8:30 – show 9:30
SECRET LOCATION – tickets @ Tequila Bookworm, 512 Queen St. W
Toronto
$5
This one is so good, we’ve actually previewed it! And you are in for a treat.
“Skip Tracer” is the standard bearer for the little-remarked “Vancouver New Wave”, a loose collection of out-of-nowhere arty winners from our West Coast compatriots. And it earns its reputation – deliberate without being static, seedy but full of empathy as well.
A tale of a ruthless debt collector who inflicts untold misery on Vancouver’s downtrodden masses before slowly seeing the error of his ways, this flick is funny, touching and horrifying, all in unpredictable combinations.
While the content may be typical 70s-Canuck street-level realism, the form is something else: controlled, austere, almost minimal shooting style, with a disarming undercurrent of surprise that never, ever topples into the dreaded ‘quirky’.
All you lowbrows can relax - there’s some nice sex and violence when you need it; plus, for the camp enthusiasts, tune in for just about the worst, cheesiest, least appropriate music score in the history of cinema! It’s like they pulled in the first passer-by and handed them a Casio. (Where’s Paul Zaza when you need him) But it doesn’t matter.
Take it from Greg, waaay back in Eclectic Screening Room #3: “If cinema had more artists like Zale Dalen who made films from the heart, on the edge, with a level head and a lot of nerve, the art form of the 20th century would be in a lot better place.”
Big screen or small, this movie does not come along every day, so catch this rare 16mm print before it disappears back down the Canuxploitation memory hole!
Plus the usual prizes, surprise shorts, vintage video games...and Episode Six of Bela Lugosi in “The Phantom Creeps”! How many times will Bela turn invisible? Whose car will blow up? Has that robot had a badly-needed enema?
Find out! (By the way, it’s a good week for Canadian movie fans – there’s a FREE 35mm screening of William Fruet’s “Death Weekend” at Innis Town Hall tonight! 7 pm –St. George and Sussex – check it out!)

Satan Macnuggit Popular Arts celebrates the Toronto premiere of Grilled Cheese Sandwich - a comedy about the revolution of everyday lunch - with an exciting evening of musical performances.
The hit of the 2007 Chicago Anarchist Film Festival, Grilled Cheese Sandwich( www.cheesemovie.com ) comes home after playing to enthusiastic audiences from Edmonton to Miami. Jonathan Culp's first feature shows what happens when a bunch of wayward youth in deadly suburban Grimsville take on Principal Middleman, the Moose Meat Ladies and Squirrely's Pizza with their revolutionary underground grilled cheese sandwich club. It's the next best thing to getting the hell out!
Blending DIY social satire with random severed limbs and bowel movements, you will not be bored. "Chock full of nutritional messages...and, of course, very cheesy" (Feminist Review)
After the movie, things keep rolling with an evening of musical performances.
- GCS co-star Chris Mills (Kids on TV) brings us a special performance of his casio-rap act Just Like the Movies, celebrating the release of both a live freestyle CD and "The Movies", a Super 8 rock video DVD;
- Matias Rozenberg - another GCS performer/composer, will contribute his own thrilling and tuneful songs in a solo set;
- in from the West, Edmonton's beat/noise master Holzkopf - yet another Cheese soundtrack contributor - will offer a helping of his nonpareil "aural battery";
- Ottawa's notorious Suicide Pilots - headline-grabbing nemeses of John Bairdand the RCMP - will bring their political punk rock to town for a rare appearance.
- Finally, DJ Machine (Marinko Jareb) will be providing his psychedelic video mixing accompaniment all night long.
Come for the cheese, stay for the tunes at the underground event of the summer! For info, interviews and previews, contact Jonathan at jc@satanmacnuggit.com

Yes, for one night only Trash Palace and I team up in presenting this super-rare and spectacular 16mm print of "Deadly Eyes" - Robert "Enter the Dragon"Clouse's tax shelter epic of mutant, er, rats running riot through TTC, GrangePark, and Old City Hall of early 80's vintage. Check out these imdb reviews:
"Great entertainment if you're drunk...a total cheesefest!"
"a couple of adorably gross and hectic sequences, for example in a movie theater or in the newly finished subway tunnel."
"Yes, I know they're dogs in rat suits but they look convincing and the scenes of them chasing victims are scary."
"this carries one of the most hilarious scenes in cinematic history - seeing Scatman Crothers' body getting dragged down a set of stairs by mutant rats!"
"amazingly rubbish acting"
"Meant to be watched in total disbelief."
Seriously, I am extremely fond of this movie and am ecstatic to be able to share it with an adoring public. Catch these rats before they scurry back into the hellish darkness...! JC ON CINEPHOBIA!
FRIDAY, JUNE 20 - 2 PM
CKLN - 88.1 FM
Yeah, "Deadly Eyes" is just the tip of the iceberg - I have been delving deep of late into the storied but little-seen depths of 'tax shelter' cinema - the speedy and shoddy flood of cash-grab films made between 1974 and 1987. From the enormous pile in the living room, Stuart and I have selected five titles -revenge, juvenile comedy, shot-on-video action, plus of course deadly rats.Tune in to hear our deathless insights on this stuff, plus clips, ticket giveaways, and other stuff I don't even know about.

Yeah! Formerly Rehab will be showing my audience-favourite "Death Mask" video (preview it at www.satanmacnuggit.com) alongside countless other film and video treasures at this year's screenings! Check out the whole festival June 27-29.The PR says:
"REHAB is an eclectic showcase of films and videos and media art by artists who live and/or work in the dynamic Parkdale community...A rare dose of defiant and whimsical film and video, the REHAB festival is intended not to purify the neighbourhood, but to jump start a collective kind of visual and cultural infusion...Cross-cultural neighbours, fringy as well as professional image-makers all converging on a hot weekend evening in June - a microcosm of Toronto's unique arts scene."

CUT AND RUN
A Near North Mobile Media Lab project
On the last weekend in July, I will be lending my insights to the editing team on this spectacularly ambitious project from the folks in North Bay:
"Cut and Run will be created over the month of July and August and will involve four weekends of workshops to produce an 80-90 minute broadcast quality feature video. Teams will work on script writing, storey-boarding, shot planning, shooting and editing, in this order. The first team will surrender their weekends work to a new team on the following weekend. Each successive team must work with whatever they are given, hence the project name Cut and Run."
I'll keep you posted on the results!

See you somewhere!
