SUPERMARKET CRITICAL MASS SOLIDARITY IN POLAND:
Two days ago, June 7th, anarchists from the Union of Syndicalists and the FA Praga along with the family of one striking cashier held a 'Supermarket Critical Mass' in Carrefour in support of supermarket workers who were staging a slow-down strike. The strike was against the fact that supermarket employees are required to work on official holidays (June 7th is the feast of Corpus Christi, an official holiday in Poland), as well as compulsory overtime, requirements to do other heavy labour, poor wages and long hours at the till without breaks.
The anarchists assisted the workers by creating "traffic jams" by parading up and down narrow aisles in rows of two, stopping at almost every product to examine it minutely. Some wore "Stop Exploitation" tee-shirts. There was no hassle from security guards, who also support the strike, and some asked the anarchists to bring them these tee-shirts to wear.
Few people were in the supermarket at the time of the action so some of the more slowing tactics were abandoned. Instead anarchists brought one carrot, one grape and one potato to the tills where they handed out leaflets in support of the go slow strike. Other leaflets were handed out in the mall that housed the supermarket.
