CANADIAN MERCENARIES CAPTURED IN BAGHDAD:
The Autonomy and Solidarity site in Toronto has an article on the recent(May 29th) abduction of five Britons who were seized by insurgents wearing police uniforms from a Finance Ministry building in central Baghdad. The five were employees of the Montreal based international security firm GardaWorld. GardaWorld apparently has hundreds of staff, mostly ex-military personnel, working in Iraq. They provide security for the British embassy in Baghdad's 'Green Zone'. Canada may not have official troops in the war in Iraq, but Canadians are present as mercenaries nonetheless, not surprising considering the growth of the mercenary industry as governments increasingly "outsource" their military functions. Go to the article highlighted above to read more.
