Next Thursday, November 27, is Thanksgiving down USA way, and the United Farmworkers are making their annual appeal for donations to help the cause. lend a buck or ten if you can. Here's the pitch.
How you can help farm workers this Thanksgiving:
The United Farm Workers Thanks & Giving appeal is our annual Thanksgiving solicitation. We're asking for your generosity in supporting the work the UFW does to improve the lives of farm workers and their families. Thanks & Giving asks us to give "thanks" for our healthy, prosperous lives, while "giving" to help poor farm workers and their children to live better lives.

All of us at the UFW are most thankful for the support and interest you have demonstrated in our work to improve the living and working conditions of farm laborers throughout our nation. As each of us sits down for the traditional Thanksgiving dinner with our loved ones, we are grateful for the blessings we have received in our lives. We are thankful for our loving families and friends and the joy we receive by having a safe home and a healthy environment. We are thankful for the bounty of fresh food and vegetables we enjoy on this day and every day of the year.

As you know, farm workers have the same hopes and desires for a bountiful life as each of us does for our own families--a safe job, paid holidays, adequate wages, decent housing, and food on the table. Unfortunately, many farm workers have a long way to go to achieve these basic necessities for a fulfilling, prosperous life.

The easiest ways to give are an online monthly pledge or single gift that will help the UFW to work throughout the year for better wages and living conditions for farm workers and their families.

Your monthly pledge commitment to the UFW can be small or large--$5, $15, $25; $50 or higher. And, if you cannot become a monthly pledge giver at this time, please consider a single special gift of $15, $25, $50 $100, $500 or whatever amount you feel moved to donate.

You can honor a caring friend, a coworker or family member by donating to the UFW and we will send a special acknowledgement of your gift by e-mail.

Thanks & Giving helps to put meaning back into the holidays. On behalf of all farm workers and their families, and the UFW, please know we are very thankful to have you as our generous supporter.

Wishing you and your family a blessed holiday and a season of thanksgiving.
Sincerely,Arturo S. Rodríguez,UFW President
P.S. Please e-mail this pledge appeal to a friend and help us double your gift!
