USA:
SUPPORT A LIVING WAGE AT WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY:
In 2003 unionized custodians lost their jobs at Western Michigan University. Their positions were privatized and replaced by non-union employees who receive poverty wages and no benefits. For the past four years students at WMU have formed a living wage coalition and have been working hard to get a living wage policy implemented for all contracted campus workers, ensuring that they will earn decent, above-poverty wages. This coalition has recently met with University administrators, and they are asking members of the public to email the administration to show solidarity with this demand.
