`CHICAGO:

TELL THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO TO OFFER A FAIR CONTRACT:

For six months clerical workers at the University of Chicago have been negotiating with the University administration to obtain a 4% cost of living raise. Under increasing pressure from the union, other University workers, faculty and students the administration made it offer- 3% which will not keep up with inflation. To add insult to injury they gave the workers only two days to reply to the offer. Quickly mobilizing the workers held a vote which was 533 to 47 against accepting the offer. The workers at this University are calling on supporters to join them in demanding that the administration offer them a fair wage. They are asking that you phone and send emails to three University administrators who have influence on the decision. The one percent difference for 580 people is equal to only half of what these three people make.
