SOLIDARITY APPEAL FROM IRAQ:
Labour Start has launched another appeal for international solidarity. On Feb 22nd US and Iraqi government forces raided the head offices of the General Federation of Iraqi Workers (GFIW). They arrested one of the union's secretarial staff, but later released him unharmed. They also, however, destroyed furniture and stole a computer and fax machine. Two days later they returned to do more vandalism. The GFIW is asking people across the world to send letters of protest to the US and Iraqi governments demanding a written apology, return of the stolen property and compensation for the damage caused.
