APPEAL FROM SRI LANKA:
The Clean Clothes Campaign, an international labour solidarity group in support of workers in the garment industry has issued an appeal on behalf of Sri Lankan workers recently arrested/kidnapped by the government of that country. The Asian Human Rights Commission has documented the use of "disappearances" in Sri Lanka over the past few decades. The Clean Clothes campaign is concerned because the government has attempted to criminalize union activity be claiming it has a connection to the Tamil insurgency in the northeast of the country. A propaganda campaign is being conducted to try and make this link. The CCC is asking people across the world to write to the Sri Lankan government to demand safety of all trade union activists under threat. To join this campaign go to:
