UPDATE FROM OAXACA:
Molly's correspondant George Salzman, resident in Oaxaca, has published has recently published an update of events in the Mexican state of Oaxaca, current as to last Friday, July 13th. The title is 'The People are Deciding, Every Day !: Report from Oaxaca, Mexico'. You can access the report either at Salzman's home page at http://site.www.umb.edu/faculty/salzman_g/S2/2007-07-13P.htm or at the Narco News site where it was recently published. ( see http://www.narconews.com/Issue46/article2734.html ).
It is inspiring to see that the people of Oaxaca haven't given up despite all the repression that has been visited on them and that the vast majority of people in struggle in this state retain their firm and disciplined commitment to non-violence. The author of the above report suspects that at least some of the violent incidents attributed to one of the underground groups was actually a "set-up" on the part of the authorities. Maybe true. Maybe not. If true it would hardly be the first 5,000th time that authorities have employed this tactic. Anyways, have a look at this report to see how things are progressing in Oaxaca today.
