THE BEST OF THE BLOGS:
LETTERS "S" TO "Z":
Yet another installment in Molly's ongoing feature of the best of the blogs listed in her Links section. Today Social Design Notes has a couple of interesting items. One is 'Is Iran Next:Think Again', a report on postcard construction/modification to grab the attention of those you petition. The covering graphic shows a car filling up from two pumps that are coffins. SDN also has another item, a link to the Propaganda Critic site that carries on the work of the Institute for Propaganda Analysis in showing the methods used in propaganda, the better to be able to see through them.
The This Canadian blog has an item on "compassion clubs" that help disease sufferers gain access to medical marijuana and the efforts of the government to give as little help as in can and as much hindrance as it can get away with to such efforts. Over at the Under The Concrete blog there's an article titled 'How Homophobia Hurts Us All' on how anti-gay attitudes do more to more than the people they are directed towards.
The individualist Wendy McElroy blog has the article 'Capitalism Versus the Free Market'. Even though McElroy is an "anarcho-capitalist" she recognizes that capitalism and a free market are not synonyms. Molly disagrees with McElroy's preferences, but her arguments are well worth taking note of. Finally, the YaYa Canada blog has a raft of articles under the heading of 'If Nobody Came to the War'. The case of Quebec peace activists who sent letters to soldiers in ValCartier questioning the morality of Canada's role in the war in Afghanistan has generated a lot of highly indignant rhetoric in the mass media. Here you can find the text of the letter to see what the fuss is all about. Lots of more goodies at this site. Pop on over to see them.
