Hey, here's another item that proves that Molly isn't only focused on the cold and frozen North. The following came Molly's way via the Asian Anarchist Network. It's originally from the Japanese CIRA (the Japanese section of the international centres for anarchist documentation and research)via the Irregular Rythym Asylum Blog. I hope that that will be enough references for anyone. In any case the following calender highlights an attempt to assassinate the Japanese emperor earlier in the 20th century. Ah- every anarchist's dream, "to assassinate the emperor" and thereby "make a difference" with a simple act without complications. It's too bad that reality rarely is so simple. In any case here is the advert for the calender.

The High Treason Incident

THE CIRA MEETS ITS GOALS- AND THEIR CATALOG:

This one is for the anarchist intellectuals amongst us. There are numerous "CIRAS"(in many countries they go by different acronyms) scattered across the world, mostly in Europe. These are essentially "anarchist archives" where the history of the movement is collected and stored. The institution in Lausanne Switzerland is one of the preeminent ones, and it has recently been involved in a fund raising effort in order to stay at its present location. Here is the announcement of its success, and the address of its online catalogue. Molly raises her glass in a toast.

--- After this campaign, we achieved the migration of the cataloguing software. The library's catalog is now available online under http://www.cira.ch. It gathers serials, monographs, audio and video recordings in one database. The interface exists also in English.

--- The software, PMB, is distributed under the CeCil licence, a French equivalent of the GPL.The old catalogue's recovery, the software configuration took about six months work. This should allow readers located away from Lausanne to consult an updated catalog and to use advanced search possibilities.

A FEW RELEVANT "ANARCHO-EVENTS:

Molly has seen a few interesting items for her anarchist readers lately. The first is an invitation for an 'Anarchist International Conference' to be held this July in Mexico City. The provisional dates are july 8th to the 10th. This conference will be sponsored by the Social Library Recontruir of Mexico City, an anarchist "open space" that doubles as a reading room and a bookstore. The SLR proposes that the discussion at this conference be rather far ranging, but oriented towards the future, from the theoretical ideas of anarchism today to the sharing of organizational experiences. people interested in attending this conference can contact the organizers at either biblioteca@libertad.org.mx or caravanallibertaria@riseup.net (en espanol por favor). Also there is an appeal from the CIRA of Lausanne, Switzerland. For 50 years since its founding by Pietro Ferrua, an Italian conscientious objector in exile this CIRA has served the anarchist movement as a valuable archive for the world-wide movement. The house in Lausanne where the CIRA has set up was owned by the now deceased Marie-Christine Mikhailo who worked along with Ferrua to set up the archives. Since her death the CIRA has been faced with the necessity of raising 150,000 Swiss francs to purchase the property outright from her other beneficiaries.
